Lake Yojoa

Lago de Yojoa

Highlight:

Lago de Yojoa

Why?

It wasn’t so much because of the lake but more the micro-brewery/hostel situated in the little village by the lake that made this a good place to visit. So quiet, so peaceful.

What did you do?

Went to a park where, on the Rio Lindo, there was the spectacular 43-metre Pulhapanzak waterfall.

Lasting memory?

Getting picked up late at night by random locals in the town on Peña Blanca who took us to the micro-brewery. We sat in the back of their pick-up truck and bounced our slid our way all the way there. Good, but painful, times.

Highlight:

Copan

Why?

A stone’s throw away from Mayan ruins, tiny, cobbled streets, colourful buildings, lovely little places to eat and drink, old people sitting around in the centre of this little town just for the sake of sitting and watching. I loved it.

Plato tipico? Are you sure?

What did you do?

Went to see the fascinating Copan ruins. Ancient Mayan structures dating back thousands of years – I can’t get enough of these things. Not just because of how the pyramids and such like look, but for what they represent in a historic sense.

Lasting memory?

Ordering some food named “plato tipico” and expecting the usual combination on rice, beans, etc on a plate but instead receiving something that, rather than describe in words, I have posted a picture of. It was very nice too.
